It may have been just a one-point victory for the McMaster Marauders, but it could be the biggest one of the OUA football season.

The McMaster Marauders rugby teams were in action on Saturday, each facing the Western Mustangs in two different venues.

McMaster hosted the Western Mustangs at Ron Joyce Stadium on Friday night in OUA soccer action.

FanDuel Won’t Pay Up

Bookmaker FanDuel is not willing to pay up on a $110 bet made in New Jersey during this past weekend’s NFL games.

That bet turned into a windfall of over $82,000 for one lucky person but the company is saying there was an error in the odds making process.

“The wager in question involved an obvious pricing error inadvertently generated by our in-game pricing system,” said a FanDuel spokesperson.

That New Jersey bet was placed at one of the many counters at the Meadowlands Racetrack while the Denver Broncos were behind by two points in the fourth quarter to the Oakland Raiders on Sunday.  The live-odds feed gave the Broncos +75,000 (750-1) odds of completing the comeback after a Case Keenum completion put them into field goal range.

Anthony Prince, the man who made the $110 bet, put down his cash at those odds and received a ticket that showed a potential payout of $82,610.  At the correct odds of -600, he would have won a profit of $18.35.

Denver kicker Brandon McManus would hit the 36-yard winning field goal with 10 seconds to play, giving the Broncos a 20-17 win.

When Prince went to the counter to collect his winnings he was told that the bet would not be paid out at the 750-1 odds.

The company has offered to pay Prince about $500 and give him tickets to three New York Giants games this year.  Prince has declined the offer and is in the process of obtaining an attorney to get them involved according to reports from News 12 New Jersey.

Two other men have come forward saying they also have been denied a payout for the incorrect odds after they made a long-shot bet on the Broncos to defeat Oakland using the FanDuel app.  With the Broncos winning the game they should have earned $56,999, the amount that showed up in their account on the app.

However, the next morning the money was gone and in its place was just $12.

A spokesperson for FanDuel released a statement that said in part, “A small number of bets were made at the erroneous price over an 18-second period.  We honored all such bets on the Broncos to win the game at the accurate market price in accordance with our house rules and industry practice, which specifically address such obvious pricing errors.  We have reached out to all impacted customers and apologized for the error.”

I wonder if this work the other way around?  “I know it said I bet $50 but I really meant it to be $5.”

The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement is investigating the matter.
